Biography

Dr. Gerasimos Kanellos is a Postdoctoral Researcher (Research Associate) and Chemical Engineer at the School of Chemical Engineering, National Technical University of Athens (NTUA). His doctoral research focused on the utilization of anaerobic and bio-electrochemical technologies for waste valorization and biogas upgrading, funded by an H.F.R.I. Research Scholarship.

He holds an Integrated Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) from the School of Chemical Engineering at NTUA (2011–2017), and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Sustainable Energy Technology: Solar-Storage-Biomass from TU Delft (2017–2019). He completed his Ph.D. at NTUA in 2025.

He is currently involved in the Horizon Europe SAFETOUCH project on self-disinfecting smart microfilms for healthcare, as well as the GREENUPGRADE project on valorization of green energy for anaerobic digestion systems. Previously, he contributed to EU-funded projects including SYMSITES, PHOTOREC, DENOMINATE, and WASTE4THINK.

Before his doctoral studies, he worked as an R&D Engineer at AquaBattery B.V. in the Netherlands (2018–2019) and completed an internship at PPC S.A. in Athens.
